Industrial Control Components: What You Should Know

industrial electrical panel components

Industrial electrical supplies are more complicated than residential houses because of the different high-powered machines that are used. Thus, it is important to use panelboards that can help equally distribute the electricity in all of the power plant’s facilities and equipment. Here are some of the industrial electrical components that you should know:

1. Transformers
AC or Alternating Current is used to power an industrial plant or warehouse. Transformers are often used to increase or decrease the voltage of AC so that various equipment can be used all at once.

2. PLC
The PLC or Programmable Logic Controller is like the main processing unit of an industrial electrical panelboard. It is programmed to read the status of the input and output modules of a panelboard in real-time. It is also used to control machines in factories.

3. Ethernet Switch
You might have heard of this when you subscribed to a particular Internet provider. In industrial electrical wiring, the purpose of an Ethernet switch is for setting up a communication line within power plants and manufacturing warehouses.

4. Circuit Breaker
Since electrical sources are volatile elements that might explode at the most unexpected times, it is important to use a circuit breaker. If ever the panelboard detects an overloaded circuit, the breaker will shut it off before it explodes.

5. Grounding Panels
It’s dangerous to work in a manufacturing plant because there is a high risk of electrical shocks. To protect industrial workers from these, grounding panels are connected to the panelboard.

6. Terminal Blocks
These are used to connect the wires from the switches and outlets to the main electrical panel. In other words, it is used to make sure that there is a secured electrical connection.

Now that you have understood what are some of the main components of an industrial electrical panelboard, it is easier to order from a supplier. If ever you need to buy some of these, then check out ASTA Electrical (S) now! Aside from panelboards, they also have electrical switchboard components!
